Protect your Spine: Safer more Effective Ways to Move and Exercise
Myths and misconceptions are common when it comes to protecting the back and spine during work and exercise. If you've been told to hollow your midsection before lifting something, that crunches protect the spine, or to lift 'with' your knees, then you've heard at least some of these myths. This 2-hour workshop busts those myths and others, and gives you research-backed alternatives to keep your back injury and pain free. We'll cover the how and the why of safer more effective exercise for what is now popularly called the 'core', and also look at how to maximise the safety of other movements like squatting. As with all our workshops, you'll get to practice what we teach to evaluate for yourself. Book below. |

Better Health and Function Through Better Breathing
Rapid shallow breathing, sometimes called hyperventilation syndrome or just over-breathing is common, even among otherwise healthy fit people. Poor breathing habits are even more common among those with asthma, but also many chronic health conditions that aren't so obviously related to breathing. Poor breathing habits increase anxiety and feelings of stress, contribute to muscle pain, especially in the neck and lower back, and affect the health of your bones and kidneys. In this workshop you'll learn to first assess and then improve your own breathing. Together, we'll explore how breath retraining and specific breathing techniques help you manage stress, reduce anxiety, improve mental focus, and relax your body. As with all our workshops, you'll get to practice what we teach to evaluate for yourself. Book below. |

Self Manual Therapy
Physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and other manual therapists can be a great resource to help you recover from injury and imbalance. But there's a lot you can do to help, and even more to prevent problems from getting bad enough to need help in the first place. We'll show you some basic self-maintenance techniques you can apply in order to move better within minutes, sometimes seconds. Techniques you can apply with few cheap tools, quickly, and at home, at work or wherever you can carve out a little space for yourself. By regularly investing 10-15 minutes a day applying what you'll learn, you'll move with greater comfort and efficiency, reduce your risk of injury, and improve your physical function. You may even cut back on your manual therapy bill As with all our workshops, you'll get to practice what we teach to evaluate for yourself. Book below. |

Body Magic
Our bodies' are wonderfully intricate and heavily influenced by our perceptions, including the subconscious ones that our nervous system continually feeds back to our spinal cord and brain. Small changes in how we move, where we look, what we focus on both, and what we do before a given movement, can make a big difference to how well we move. In this workshop we'll explore the little things you can do to help realise your full movement potential. Among other things, we'll look at how eye position can help you become more mobile, how the position and stability or instability at one joint affects other joints above and below it, how to spot the difference between a mobility issue and a flexibility issue, how engaging the right muscles at the right time instantly your mobility, balance, strength, and agility, while at the same time reducing tension to leave feeling and functioning better. As with all our workshops, you'll get to practice what we teach to evaluate for yourself. Book below. |
