In the clips below our yoga advisor and resident yoga therapist Danika Michelle takes you through a series of mostly calming breathing exercises. Although we all recognise the essentiality of breathing to life, we routinely underestimate the importance of how we breath when it comes to health. Spending some time each day bringing your focus to your breath and practicing the techniques below can help relieve both physical and mental tension, as well as calm and focus the mind.

Nadi shodhana, also sometimes called anuloma viola, is a practice of alternate nostril breathing a yogic technique to balance the brain hemisphere and calm the mind and nervous system.

Cautions: Both nostrils need to be flowing freely. This practise should not be performed while suffering from colds, flu, or fever. Please ensure you keep the breath relaxed at all times. You may need to build up slowly to the 3 count ratio used in this video, so please adjust according to your own capacity.
